Here's a few recent "conversations with Evan:"
- While driving to school yesterday: "Mom, I need to get that thing down from the tree, but I don't have my cowboy hat or rope."
- "Mom, when I grow up can I have Grandpa's bow & arrow?" (he saw this back in August & still remembers it!)
- While looking at someone's roof, Evan says "Mom, there is something on top of that roof. Daddy can get it down with a bucket & shovel. Do you think Santa put it there?"
- "Mom, white is for boys. Pink & purple are for girls. Daddy, Evan, Tyler & Green Bear are boys. Mommy and Lucy are girls."
- At the doctor, Evan played with the toy 'doctor kit.' He took my temperature and said "hmmm....31. Now it's time for your sticket! You did really good."
- "I'll dial 9911." I really hope we don't have an emergency where Evan truly has to dial 911! He's convinced it's 9911....
- "I have an airplane and it has EVAN on it. It goes SUPER FAST."
- "Tyler can't do that until he grows up." Evan likes to say this to anything that he doesn't want Tyler to do with him or if he thinks Tyler is going to play with his toys.
- "Mom, today I'm growing up." This one made me laugh, smile & almost cry at the same time!
Evan loves to "pretend" now too. He could be holding a spoon, flying it through the air, and say "I'm just pretending it's a rocket." The way he says "pretending" is so cute. He says it like "pe-ten-din."
I had Evan's first conference with his pre-school teacher yesterday. He's doing great in school and his teacher said she really loves how excited Evan gets about learning. The only "bad" thing Evan does at school is say potty words, which we knew. He's actually more behaved at school than at home! Hmm......Evan can almost spell his name and he's doing a great job writing/tracing his name! He started doing patterns at school and can take different cut-out shapes/objects and put them in a pattern. Our baby is growing up (too fast)!
He wanted to carry Green Bear like I carry Tyler (in the baby carrier).
With no fear what-so-ever, Evan runs to Santa and introduces him to Green Bear. The picture is fuzzy because one of Santa's Helpers almost tackled me for pulling out my phone. Oops!
Featured artist at school!
Tyler is also amazed by Evan. He tries hard to "keep up" with his big brother already, and by that I mean he literally tries to follow Evan with his head/eyes as Evan runs circles around him/the room/house/dog, etc. I can only imagine what Tyler is thinking...."What is that boy doing?! Why is he so loud?" Tyler shows a lot of interest in using his legs already. I swear he's going to walk any day now. If I don't set his butt all the way completely down in his bouncy, he scoots himself up to standing and if we don't watch closely, he would drop his head off the back of it! Can't leave him unattended for long! Tyler is still a happy, easy going baby. If he's hungry/dirty diaper/tired, he let's us know and when we "fix" it, he's happy again.
My conversations with Tyler consist of lots of "giggles and goo's" and I love them. He's started blowing bubbles/spitting and when he's really into a toy or focused on something, he purses his lips and makes this funny noise with his mouth. It freaked me out at first and I thought he was choking, but he found the noise hilarious! He's a short napper which stinks on days that I work at home, but we're figuring it out!
LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE
Those eyes go straight to my heart and melt it every time!
Caught in action! When I left, he was sitting, on his butt! It's a fuzzy pic because I snapped it fast so I could make sure he didn't catapult off the bouncy!
When I left, his head was on the pillow and his shoulders near the center/opening. This took about 30 seconds for him to do. And with such a big head, it was like a weight holding him down!
Tyler, you're now 3 months old (!!!). You've crossed the 13 lb. mark and are already super tall. The pants that your brother wore at this age are like capris on you! Today you wore a 6 month onesie (Carter's brand runs small, so he's not in 6 mo. clothes for everything yet). I think you'll be taller than me by the time you start kindergarten! Your big brother really loves you. He loves to help me bathe you (I allow him to poor water on your legs). He loves to give you toys. He loves to "excuse" you after you toot or have a crazy loud poop (I swear sometimes you're going to blow your diaper off. Thankfully you do not..."). Evan usually giggles a little and says "Excuse YOU Tyler." Evan often asks when you'll "grow-up" and be able to run with him. I know it will be sooner than I know that the two of you will be running circles around me!
Evan thought Tyler wanted to play with Halloween Bear
"Tyler wants blocks Mom."
Evan putting Tyler's sock on. Look at the smile Tyler has! He loves to smile & laugh at Evan. Evan only had one sock though. I said "Evan, why do you only have one sock?" His answer was "Because I only have one." Duh!
Smiles for big brother
I turned around for a second to get a diaper and this is what I came back to.
Evan says "Mom, he's cold."
"You want a blanket?" He says in his high-pitched, baby-talk voice.
Caught red handed! This was a funny situation: I was watching Tyler through his baby video monitor. Tyler was snoozin' away, when all of a sudden, I see this dinosaur pop into the screen. I couldn't see Evan or Evan's hand, just the dinosaur (that he's holding). If only that monitor could record things. It was hilarious!
GTB and "Picnic Bear" wanted to play.
As I mentioned in a past blog post, we had family pics taken when Tyler was born. Here are Tyler's 3 week and Evan's 3 year pictures. I'm truly blessed to have such healthy, happy, and handsome little boys! And that goes for my handsome husband too. :) Enjoy the pictures!
Evan, 3 years old
Love this sweet baby
I LOVE this picture. This perfectly portrays how much Evan admires his Daddy. He always wants to do what Daddy is doing and wants to show Daddy what he can do and how strong he is.
Heartbreaker. With this smile and his gorgeous eye lashes, we're going to be in trouble with the girls some day!
Tyler pretty much skipped the newborn phase. He looks bigger than 3 weeks here!
