First Day of Pre-School

Evan's first day of pre-school was this week!  I can't believe he's going to turn 3 this month.  Time really does fly by, way too fast!

As Evan gets older, we see more and more of his personality and attitude come through in his actions and words.  Yesterday I told Evan he couldn't do something and he said to me "I'm going to call and tell you Dad."  Um, WHAT?!

He also likes to negotiate with us.  If you tell him he can have a graham cracker, he will say "I just want 5."  When I tell him he can have 2, he says "I just want 3."  I guess it's a good way for him to learn his numbers!

I bought some pre-school activity books to do at home and he really enjoys them.  He's learning how to trace his name, count and the alphabet right now.

The pre-school setting seems a little calmer than the daycare setting he has been in and we can only hope it will help calm Evan down a little.  NOTHING tires Evan out.  Nothing.  We could go to the zoo, pool and park in one day, and run around the neighborhood and he would still bounce around the house at 10:00 p.m. with energy like we used to have before we had kids (ha!).  I envy his energy!

In an effort to find ways to exert his energy, we signed him up for soccer - the "cottontails" program.  It's a parent participation class and is very entertaining to watch (I say watch because Erik was on the field today).  Evan did pretty well with his first class, except we know we really have to work with him on his listening (in general, not just soccer....).  Evan didn't really have interest in participating in the group activities.  He preferred running up and down the field kicking the ball while the other kids sat in the circle group passing the ball back and forth.  Hopefully after 10 weeks we'll master the listening / participation part of the class.  He really was adorable with his little soccer ball though.  Running is clearly something he's VERY good at (running on the field, away from mom and dad, through the grocery store, parking lot, etc.).

Action shot!  Moving so fast!

If Evan ever becomes a professional soccer player, I'll look back on this pic at when it all began!

He loved kicking the ball over and over against the wall.

His teachers send home nice pics and summaries of Evan's day.  This was from his first 'transition' day in pre-school.  Evan has never had issues transitioning to the next classroom.  He loves moving up with the other kids and having new toys and experiences!

Last weekend Evan came down the stairs with his toy drill and this bench.  He said "I just have to get my tools and go work with my Daddy."  So sweet!
