Since I last posted, Tyler has become a walking/running machine! Around 14 months old he finally figured out what to do with his feet and legs (although he is still a little clumsy!). He's super fast, probably in an effort to keep up with his big brother. He's mastered "more" in sign language using it whenever he wants something....more food, a diaper change, a toy. It's really cute. He tries to repeat words he hears us say, like football, basketball, and thank you. They sound more like "oot ba", "ba ba" and "tank to." But he's trying to figure it out! If he sees a toy animal or dinosaur he likes to growl/roar at it. He really loves his day at school. The kids in class have started eating meals at this teeny tiny little table with chairs about 6 inches off the ground. It's so adorable to see them eating there together!
Lately Tyler is more rough with Evan than the other way around. Tyler thinks playing with Evan is trying to head butt him, lay on top of him, or hit the top of his head over and over. He giggles the entire time. Evan usually has great patience and just sighs and says "Oh Tyler." Evan likes to parent Tyler a lot whether it's scolding him for something he did wrong or asking if he can wash Tyler's hair in the bath tub. When Tyler makes a mess, Evan will say "Ugh, Tyler, I just cleaned that!" Hmmm....wonder where he gets that from.....
NOTHING is off limits when it comes to what Tyler will get into lately. He will destroy a room in 2 minutes if left unattended. Yesterday he opened the door to the garage and tumbled down the stairs. Didn't even stop to evaulate the situation...he just crawled head first (falling) down the stairs. He can now reach the door handles (which are levers....a parents nightmare) and opens the pantry and basement door all the time. We had to get a lock at the top of the basement door along with a sign reminding us to keep it closed ALL THE TIME. I have nightmares about those basement stairs! We also have to remember to keep all toilet seats down, because Tyler likes to splash around in the toilet water.....and sometimes Evan doesn't flush.....yep, you can imagine my reaction that day!
Evan, a 4 year old with an ATTITUDE!
Evan is growing into such an independent, creative, smart little boy....with a BIG attitude. He has opinions about EVERYTHING and is very, very stubborn and demanding sometimes! Our patience is tested every minute of the day! At school they are working on math skills and Evan likes to come home and practice adding and subtracting with us.
Evan will sit at the kitchen table with a box of markers, scissors, tape, glue, paper and turn it into a rocket ship, train, plane, etc. He's super creative and very detailed. If he colors something in a coloring book he always stays in the lines AND then he will cut out whatever he colored and is very precise with his cutting skills! He will take 20 minutes sometimes just to cut out a picture.
He also loves building things out of blocks and legos and builds some pretty elaborate and creative things. At the gym the other week he built a "laser" which was about 4 feet long. He was carrying it around and when we had to leave, he gave it to another boy to play with. That little boy dropped it within 5 seconds and part of the "laser" broke. Evan just looked at him and sighed, ha!
Life is super busy with the boys and we do our best to survive every day.....as exhausted as we are, we know these years with them are short and we try our best to cherish the moments (while keeping our sanity, working, and keeping up with the house).
Cider mill hayride with the boys
Watching the baseball game and Tyler found his ball and kept pointing it at the TV saying "Ba!"
He's already mastered his couch skills....he fits on the ottoman now but I suspect once he's a teenager he will take over the couch!
Just two boys enjoying breakfast together
Last zoo trip before the cold weather hit!
Fun trip with our friends Kirsten & Justin
We made a lot of trips to Long's this year! They have a great kids play area we purchase a pass for and of course, we love the cider & donuts!
Last year Evan didn't want to go down the slide alone. This year he wanted to go on his belly, head first.....
Tyler's first slide ride!
Nia came to visit! Yah!!
Love our library. It has a huge kids room with all sorts of toys and books. Of course we had to show Nia. She's such a great teacher to the boys...taught Evan how to use the computer system to find books about race cars.
A fall trip to Michigan isn't complete without a cider mill visit! And a picture in the famous Long's rocking chair.
Halloween with kids is a month long celebration when you have kids! Zoo Boo's, Trunk or Treating, school events, and then finally.....October 31st Trick or Treating! Tyler was the cutest skunk ever and Evan was BATMAN!
Found a Spartan pumpkin!
Trunk or Treating at school
After Trunk or Treating, the kids head inside for games in the school. Every classroom has a variety of games and activities. It's such a great Halloween event for the kids! Evan was the first one to try eating a donut off the string without using his hands. Ha!
The "Dance Party" room was filled with balloons for the kids. Tyler was in HEAVEN. He ran around the room frantically saying "ba! ba! ba!"
By the time Halloween came, Evan was burnt out! He only went to one house...and was super grumpy. Tyler loved trick or treating though!
When Erik & his brother, David, were little, there's a picture of the two of them in a car just like this. Erik pushed the car over on top of David. Now, 30 years later, the Anderson boys are at it again!
When Evan draws pictures now he also wants to write captions ("stories") to go along with the picture. He asks me to help spell what he wants to write and then writes the letters himself. So proud of him!
Tyler loves little chairs and he's getting into books lately. When we start reading to him though he just laughs at us and turns the pages.
Thanks Grandma Denise for giving back my recorder from elementary school.....I say sarcastically....Tyler loves walking around the basement blowing on it. Yes, it's loud and annoying but he's also super cute!
"Hey Mom! I love climbing on things now!" He likes to look out the front windows and slober on them with his mouth, wave at people/cars and say "bye!"
More climbing in the toy room at the library
That's not how to ride a motorcycle Mr. T!
Tyler had some opinions and went to vote.
He just loves little chairs!
What's the significance of this selfie? Well.....I'm documenting driving my FIRST MINI VAN! Yes, that's right. I'm a mini van mom now! I won't lie, I LOVE it. It's the perfect car for my Type A personality. It's so organized, there is SOOOO much space, storage, and I pretty much drive by pressing a bunch of buttons. Don't even ever have to find my keys because everything opens with the touch of a button!
The new ride
Silly bath time moments! Tyler was caught in this picture trying to beat-up on Evan.
We watched the movie UP and after the movie, Evan drew this picture of the house and balloons on the cliff. So cute!
Deep in concentration cutting out a project
