Dear Baby T

12.31.13

Dear Baby Tyler,

This post comes 9 days late, but you're 4 months old!!  Wow!  The longest, fastest days of our life.  You are a very happy little boy.  So many smiles, laughs, coos & giggles during the day.  And every single one melts my heart!  You're very observant.  You notice everything around you; probably because there is a lot happening around you with Evan running around!  When Evan is in the same room as you, you just stare at him.  Evan will put toys in your face or come talk to you and you just laugh and laugh at him.  It's a wonderful Mommy moment!  Soon enough you'll be running around with him so I'm enjoying the peace of having you non-mobile while I can.  You've really discovered your "voice" the past few weeks.  You babble to yourself and to us, sometimes I think telling us what to do or what you think of the insanity you see in the house sometimes.  Life is chaotic and non-stop, but I wouldn't trade it for anything!

At your 4 month appointment, you were 14 lbs., 11 oz. (51 percentile) and 26 inches (86 percentile).  You're a tall baby!  You wear your 6-9 month clothes already and almost all of Evan's pants from when he was your age are too short.  I anticipate you'll be taller than me by the time you're in kindergarten!  Funny thing.....you're the EXACT same weight that Evan was at his 4 month appointment, and only half an inch taller than Evan.

I tell everyone that you're a wonderful 2nd baby - you're easy going, predictable, happy, and thankfully you're sleeping very well (averaging 8-10 hours a night!).  When you're ready to wake-up, you let us know by "thumping" in your crib.  You'll slam your legs up and down onto the crib and start bouncing.  It's pretty loud and I often don't even need the monitor to hear you!

The days are super, super busy with your schedule, your brother, work, and just life, so I'm thankful that you're such a 'go-with-the-flow' baby.  You're a short napper (on the days I work) and a long napper (on the days I don't...).  *sigh*

At 4 months you've mastered tummy time (although it's still not your most favorite thing) and you have great head control.  Time for the Bumbo Boat at bath time!

Starting with your 3 month picture

Your new buddy, Charlie Brown.  He has as much hair as you!

Patches of Houlihan

We have a new member of the family, Patches of Houlihan, our "Elf on the Shelf."  Patches arrived the day after Thanksgiving to keep an eye on Evan and Tyler and report back to Santa every night.  When Evan wakes up in the morning he has to find where Patches is hiding.  Most mornings, Patches is in a new spot.  But sometimes he gets lazy and forgets to move (oops!).

Patches left a trail of legos so Evan could find him after nap time

He built a Lego staircase to climb into the tree!

Patches left Evan a little note too!

Just hangin' around

Gone fishin'

Always in the perfect watch-out position to keep an eye on Evan

Tyler is too young to know Patches, but he LOVES the lights on the Christmas tree!

A fuzzy pic, but still captures how happy he was!

Tyler's first visit with Santa!  He was great for the first few minutes, then realized where he was and did NOT like it!

He's starting to figure out how to be mobile!  I left him in the Boppy (pillow) and he slowly scooted himself over it.  He was so proud of himself!

"Whew!  I made it!"

Evan loves the Christmas cards we get in the mail.  He calls them little "tents."

Our first snow of the season.  Evan LOVES the snow.  He was helping me shovel a path for Lucy.

Our first snowman together!  Wow, it's hard work making a snowman.  My back is still sore from lifting those snow balls!  The whole time I was building it, Evan kept saying "But Mom, where is his corn cob pipe and his button nose and two eyes made out of coal?"

More pictures and stories of the Christmas season to come!
