1st Birthday Party Fun!

Tyler had a fun 1st birthday party and it was great having family around to celebrate with us!

We started the birthday weekend out with dinner at Red Robin.  A birthday isn't complete without a birthday sundae and the Red Robin happy birthday song!

Tyler kept looking around at the servers singing to him, he loved it!

Apparently I was the only one smiling here!  Ha!

Tyler dove right in!

After dinner we took the boys to Target so Evan could pick out a gift for Tyler.
Me: "Evan, what do you think Tyler wants for his birthday?"
Evan: "A JET PLANE!"
Me: "Who wants a jet plane? Evan or Tyler?"
Evan: "Evan.  I mean TYLER!"

Tyler loves Target because their parking lot has those big red cement balls.  He points and says "Ba! Ba! Ba!!!!!"

THE PARTY

Of course we had to have balloons for his party too (he thinks they are "ba's!")

Aunt Kristie combed Tyler's hair so he was handsome for his party guests!

"BA!"

Happy to have Great Grandpa join the party

Big brother Evan couldn't wait for his birthday cake-flavored ice cream sandwich!

LOVE this pic, hilarious!

"This is the best party ever!"

"Puzins!"  Evan calls Madelyn his "puzin."  These were 3 tired kiddos by the end of the party.

"No paparazzi, please!"

"I LOVE BALLOONS!"

Party on the patio

Uncle David, are you tying a balloon to the birthday boy?!

Trying to get Tyler to open gifts, he didn't really get it....

I LOVE THIS PARTY!  MOM - Did you see the huge BA!?

The family cake pic is my fav for parties :)

"mmmmmmmmm..........frosting............"

Of course big brother had to help

"It's best if I use my hand like a shovel."

"Oh Uncle David, you're so funny!  You think I'll share this cake with you?  I don't think so!"

 Our favorite Puzin!

We took the cake away but Tyler kept eating what was left on his tray

Happy 1st Birthday Tyler!

"My precious little baby
I have loved you from the start
You are a tiny miracle

Laying closely to my heart"

Dear Tyler,

You're ONE YEAR OLD!  WOW!  The longest yet shortest days of our life have happened the past 365 days with you.  I describe you as a sweet, silly, sassy, and snuggly little boy.

What are you up to lately?  Well, you're a SUPER FAST crawler with this cute "gimpy" crawl as we call it.  You bend/pull your left leg under you while you push/pull yourself all over with your dominant right leg.  It looks so uncomfortable but you get where you need to go!  And often much faster than I need you too!  You have to keep up with your big brother, right?  You just adore Evan and still think he's the funniest person ever.  Anytime you're upset, Evan can always make you smile and laugh.  On days that you're home alone with me I know you enjoy your 1:1 mommy time but I often see you looking around for Evan ("hey, where's that loud kid that runs circles around me and brings me toys?").

I'm SOOO lucky to have spent this year at home with you.  Although there were tough days for me balancing work and taking care of you, we made it through a whole year!  It's great that you now have one day a week at school to socialize and have fun with new activities there.  I miss you but get SOO much work done on that day.

Your words are Dada, Momma, and Ba.  Ba = ball.  You LOVE balls.  At the grocery store tonight you pointed to lemons and apples and called them "ba."  Now we all call a ball a "ba."  Evan said "Mom, I'm going to buy Tyler a 'ba' for his birthday because he loves 'ba's'."  At the beach a few weeks ago you crawled (gimpy crawl) through the sand quietly repeating "ba" over and over as you made the long (to you) trek over to another person's blanet to get the volleyball there.  What a workout for you!

We're excited to celebrate your first birthday on Sunday with family since they all live nearby (the reason we moved from CO back to MI!).

I know you won't remember this, but tonight I rocked you before bed and sang you a few silly and some sweet versions of Happy Birthday To You.  You laughed, pulled at my face, stuck your hand in my mouth, and then snuggled into my neck and giggled.  Best mommy moment ever (aw, great, now I'm crying!).

Happy Birthday sweet Mr. T.  Can't wait to experience every day and year going forward with you!

I love you to the moon & back!

Love,
Momma

Meeting you for the first time!

Already snuggly...and big at 9 lbs. 9 oz!

"What is this thing I'm holding?" says Evan.  You're saying "What is this big kid doing to me?  Does he realize what I just went through to come into this world?!"

And now for a look back on your monthly pics!  I'll post your one year pic when we take them.  :)

I have a few pics from 4 months because they were just too cute/funny to not post!

This was your tongue phase!
