Fall family pics

Since the boys birthdays are so close together it makes sense to take their yearly pics and a family pic during the fall.

Attempting to get a picture with the boys together....very difficult.

Tyler must have seen a "ba" on the ground

*Love*

Good ol' Mr. T sporting his gimpy crawl

Trying really hard to get everyone to smile!

Love Tyler's body/face in this one

"Look at me walking!"

Despite Evan's un-tucked shirt and Tyler tried to hit Evan's head, I'd say this one's a keeper!

Evan had to put on his new ski helmet

And read a book with it :)

Love this little guy!

Tyler looks like he's consolling Evan about something serious

This one perfectly portrays our sweet little family and attitudes!

How adorable is he?!

Climbing the steps, what he loves to do!

Tyler wanted nothing to do with sitting next to his big brother!

Love their blank expressions here....they were sooo done with pictures!

Big THANKS to Aunt Katie for snapping some great pics of us despite the grumpy moods, attitudes, lots of drool, and silliness!

Happy 4th Birthday Evan!

Happy 4th Birthday, Evan!

Dear Evan,
You're 4 years old! I feel like every year I will say "I can't believe you're a year older!" I hate saying "time flies" but it really does! Time is full of so many fun stories, memories, events and snuggles with you.

The terrible 2's and terroist 3's are behind us and I look forward to the "terrific 4's".  :)  I made that up but I can hope, right?!  From age 3 to 4 you've lost a lot of your "baby face" and look so much like a little boy now.  A very, very handsome little boy.  Nia & I have our work cut out keeping the girls away from you someday!

Words to describe you at this age.....energetic, free-spirited, pure, emotional, frustrating, silly, caring, thoughtful, creative, determined, smart.

Things you love to do:
- Create: whether it's drawing or building with blocks/legos/playdoh, you love to create things with your imagination.  It's so much fun to see what you come up with.  And it's always so detailed (you are your Daddy's son!).  You'll draw a picture of a car and point out a small piece of the engine you drew.  Or you'll build a race track for your cars and make a garage for them to park.
- Play: whenever I ask you what you did at school, you say "play."  You're great playing with friends or by yourself.  Over the past year you've become a better independent player using your imagination to play with toys by yourself.
- Be active: you love to run, ride your bike, play outside, build forts, play catch with Daddy.  This past year you learned to ride a bike with training wheels and now you cruise around the neighborhood and usually I end up running/sprinting behind you to keep up!
- Read books: we read every night before bed and I always cave when you want to read more books and stay up late.  How can I say no to more reading?!  It's so cute to watch you read and tell the story to yourself.  You'll mimic how Daddy or I read certain words or parts of the story and you'll make funny voices for characters.  You love chapter books too.  You'll find one of Daddy's or rent one from the library and carry it around the house.  You once told me "Mom, when I grow up can I have a pile of books like Daddy does?"
- Do activities: You'll ask me for the empty macaroni box to make an activity or project out of.  You'll cut out shapes from paper, pieces of straws, glue them to the box, color it and add some stickers and turn it into a race car.

Every year I ask you the same questions and your answers continue to make me laugh & smile.  I typed these answers as you were talkign so these are all your quotes as a big 4 year old!

Birthday morning pancakes - filled with sprinkles & chocolate chips!  (Note to self: do not put a candle inside a hot pancake.  It will melt in the pancake....)

Birthday cake & presents with Grandma & Grandpa Anderson, Uncle David & Aunt Stacy.  Think we have enough ice cream?

Birthday celebration with the Ellis' & Hergott's

One downside to turning 4 was the 3 shots you had to get.  We took you to buy your very own ski helmet after shots as a reward.  At family pictures you insisted on taking some with your helmet.  :)

HANDSOME!  Awesome pictures courtesy of Aunt Katie!

Pure happiness

Happy birthday sweet Evan!  I'll sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to you every night for as long as you'll let me!

Adventures with E & T

The past 4 weeks can best be summed up with pictures.  With 2 kiddos under 4 we are constantly on the go to keep-up with their high energy!  Tyler is now very active and just loves playing with his big brother.  They do play well together, or more like play in the same area as each other.  Evan only gets frustrated with Tyler when he's trying to build something or color and Tyler either knocks down the tower or whatever he's building or starts eating the crayons.  Evan has shown a lot of interest in taking care of Tyler - feeding him, washing his back, giving him his cup.  Evan is a first child, Type A personality all the way!

Evan started Pre-K and loves his buddies and teacher, Miss Jessie.  He comes home and talks all about what Logan (his best friend) did at school or what Logan had (that Evan didn't have or that Logan wouldn't share with him....drama in Pre-K!).  I continue to be impressed with all that Evan learns, knows, and can comprehend at such a young age.  He holds a conversation like a little adult.  A few weeks ago we FaceTime'd with Nia & Guh and Evan held the phone and talked to them all about what he was up to.  Tonight he is building something with Erik in the family room and I can hear him say "Dad, I think I'm going to rest and watch you build it.  Make sure you follow the instructions."  A few seconds later "Dad, are you following the instructions?!"

Tyler is now 13 months, 2 weeks old and he's taking about 5-8 steps at a time.  Then drops to his butt and continues with his gimpy crawl.  He is so fast with that crawl, it's amazing!  He communicates with non-stop whining and screaming when he wants something now.  And Evan likes to say "Mom, Tyler doesn't get what he wants when he whines."  Tyler's favorite word is still "BA!"  He could wake up from a deep sleep and immediately say "Ba!" and actually find one in the room.  He has this internal radar that spots a ball from a mile away.  Today he was sitting on the chair with me and happened to see a small ball out in the yard (through the window) and kept pointing at it saying "Ba!"  At least I know he has good vision!  His newest word is "Bye."  Whenever he is at the back garage door or sees someone standing there or leaving, he says "Bye."  Today he started waving when he says it too.  Seriously the cutest "Bye" I've ever heard.  It's very fast & short when he says it.

Both boys have quite the appetite and I think go through growth spurts at the same time.  Today for breakfast Evan had a waffle and a cheese & salami sandwich.  For lunch recently he ate macaroni, 2 yogurt sticks and 2 sandwiches.  Tyler eats like a champ most of the time.  He eats everything we eat with his fav's being yogurt, meatballs and this quinoa sweet potato chili.

Lots of pictures for this post!

Our first trip to Greenfield Village.  Grandma & Grandpa Anderson bought us a membership for Tyler's birthday and it's a gift we will get a lot of use out of!

Greenfield Village has the coolest playground for big kids too!  ;)

Evan loved the digger

Fun carousel ride at GF Village

We took Evan to the Selfridge Air Show with our friends the Wolak's (Evan's buddy Kellan).  Such a fun day!

Evan was overwhelmed with excitement.  He was so excited that he was running around like a crazy child throwing tantrums because he was so worried he wouldn't be able to see all the "jet airplanes."

There's Evan in the red hat

The boys checking out the jet planes

Evan buckled himself in the seat and honestly thought he was going to go for a ride in the plane. He was not a happy camper when we had to tell him the plane wasn't going anywhere.

Evan & Kellan

A 2 hour drive (darn traffic...), air show with cool "jet planes" and Wendy's frosties = 2 tired kiddos and 2 happy Momma's!

The boys & I visited a cider mill with my friend Sara and her 2 boys.  Here's Tyler chatting it up with his buddy Connor.

A trip to the cider mill isn't complete without a tractor ride

My long time, dear friend Katie was in town and met Tyler and I for lunch recently.  I babysat for her girls when they were babies and now they're holding my baby!  Tyler with Mady & Camille.

Katie, Tyler & I

My friend Marcie was in Ohio visiting family so Tyler and I took a little day trip to visit her and little Ellie. Such a fun day!

Tyler & his buddy Justin just two peas in a....swing.  Ha!

Our church had a fair and the day they opened they allowed only kids under 5 to ride the rides for $5 all morning.  Such a great deal!

Tyler rode a few rides with us but loved just carrying around the toy sword Evan won

Evan & I on the fire truck ride.  I LOVE his smile here.  Pure happiness!

That's Evan's little sweet face waving at me.  Adorable!

After Evan went around twice, the ride got a little faster & higher. I thought Evan was just looking at the motor running the ride (he's amazed at figuring out how things work).  Ended up he wasn't really liking the ride and he told me he was holding on tight and was afraid to move!

These kid rides crack me up!

A day at the fair = one tired little man!

This kid has to be the messiest eater EVER!  We had some Mexican dish for dinner and Tyler liked to squish the black beans....

He likes to think he can feed himself with a spoon.....he throws a fit when I try to feed him and makes the biggest mess when feeding himself, but he's happy! The other day while he was eating pizza I was on the floor cleaning up the pizza he was throwing and got nailed in the back of the head with pizza. Livin' the dream!

Just 2 boys chatting over breakfast

Tyler had this piece of zucchini on his head the entire meal.  I don't know if he put it there or if it landed there when he was throwing food.  At the end of the meal he leaned over and shook his head so it fell to Lucy on the floor.  I cannot make this stuff up......

With all the eating this kid does I had to get him on a workout routine.  ;)

Tyler loves the Cozy Coupe!  He gets in and out of it by himself and likes to sit, holding the steering wheel and waits for someone to push him around.

This is what happened BEFORE we got a baby gate at the bottom of the stairs....he would climb and turn around like this and when he would see me he would laugh hysterically until I came to get him.  He can climb up fine but cannot climb down.  He just sits down and falls backwards.  Scary!

A fun moms club event - painting in the park

Evan's first day of Pre-K! Loved the photo booth at school!

Evan is very creative & artistic. He loves drawing and has an amazing imagination.  His favorite things to draw includes boats, cars, trains, planes and people.  He often asks Erik & I to draw these for him too, then he likes to trace what we draw.  He asked Erik to draw a car and was not pleased with Erik's skills.....he looked at the drawing of the car and with much disappointment said (with a sigh) "maybe you should draw a boat instead."  Ha!

Our family, drawn by Evan.  Tyler is the blue one that I apparently dropped while holding Evan upside down.  I do like that Evan thinks I'm as tall as Erik though!  (Sept. 2014)

Evan's first drawing of him and I.  (April 2014)

Evan's drawing of me in June 2014.  Over the course of 2 months he gave me beautiful eye lashes, hair and arms!  :)

Time to get Evan to bed now.  I hear him watching the MSU game with Erik saying "Dad, why don't they have defense?"  And so it begins.....
