Evan's vocabulary and understanding of the world amazes me. He pays attention to and remembers everything. Even the stuff you don't want him to! His mannerisms, sarcasm, attitude, and overall way of being are reflections of how Erik & I are around him. Which is good and bad! Sometimes I feel like I'm negotiating with myself because of how he will talk back or try to outsmart me. Watch out teenage years! A few of the latest "Evan'isms"....
- Walking down the stairs, looking out the window, Evan sighs and says "I can't believe it's snowing again."
- Several times this week, Evan has said to me "I don't see the sun ANYWHERE momma." No comment on that one (#missingcoloradosunshine)
- "Momma, if I eat just two more pieces I can have a treat."
- While driving Tyler to the doctor the other day, Evan said "But mom, I have a cough too. See? *Insert cough* See mom, I need to go to the doctor too."
- "Daddy, can I read all your books someday?"
- Erik left for soccer last night and Evan ran to the door and said "Mom! I didn't get to give Daddy a hug! How will he know I love him?!"
- "Mom, I want to be a police officer someday. *insert big sigh and shoulder shrug* But I don't have a police uniform so I can't."
- "This room is a mess. I have to organize it." He seriously said that the other day and organized his entire room. Proof that he is my child!
- "Mom, are you short? Dad is tall. And I'm tall. But you're a girl, so you're short." Thanks Evan...don't remind me that by the time you go to kindergaten you'll probably be taller than me!
The things he says just crack me up! One night he sat with Erik and had a 10 minute coversation with him about what volcanoes do and what hot lava is. He is so inquisitive!
Evan's favorite activities lately include making paper airplanes and building with blocks. He asks everyone to make a paper airplane for him. Doesn't matter what it's made of either. After months of seeing us make the planes, Evan started making them on his own. I was so impressed when he took a picture he found and turned it into an airplane. I thought Erik made it, but it was Evan! He's very good with small details and precision like that. It's also evident with the houses, castles, race car tracks, etc., that he builds out of blocks. Everything he builds has so much detail and is symmetrical. All the blocks are neatly lined up and serve a purpose and he will tell you all about what he's building, how it works, and remind you that Tyler can't play with it because he's not "grown up."
Evan also enjoys watching the Olympics with us at night. He asks questions about the events and knows what they are. He loves watching the skiing and says that he's ready to try. Looks like it's time for Uncle Danny & Aunt Katie to teach him! Good to have ski instructors in the family. :) If we ever get a good weather day this winter, we plan to attempt his first ski lesson this year.
Tyler (6 months)
Happy 6 month birthday Baby T! Tyler's last 3 weeks have been rough - horrible cough, bottom tooth (almost in), and double ear infection. Erik & I are going to buy stock in Albuterol since Tyler & Evan now use the breathing treatment. Not sure how both of our boys have wheezing/constant coughs but I sure hope they grow out of it.
Tyler has found his tounge and is obsessed with chewing on it, sticking it out, and making silly noises with it. We tried started him on rice cereal last weekend but he hasn't really shown much interest and I think it's because he's been sick. He really watches us when we eat and reaches for our food so I know he's ready! Time to breakout the baby food recipe book again!
Tyler also LOVES the water. He loves bath time and we took him to the pool! Or what he probably thinks is the ocean. He splashed non-stop the entire time we were there. He kept trying to stick his face in the water and would make "doggy paddle" motions. Future Olympic swimmer perhaps?
At Tyler's doctor appointment he was 15 lbs. 11 oz. His 6 month appointment won't be for a few weeks until he's off his meds.
Tyler has mastered tummy time and rolling from tummy to back
Making a Valentine's Day "mail box" to collect his cards in. Valentine's Day is like Halloween now with all the treats kids get!
Evan can write his name! See bottom right :)
Cookie decorating at the moms club V-Day party
Snuggling and watching Little Einstein's
Evan says "Tyler, let me cover you up." Tyler says "eh, that's ok."
Indoor playground. First swing experience!
Evan has showed a lot of interest in playing with Tyler lately. It's really sweet!
"What you lookin' at mom? This is between me and the bear that keeps popping out of this box."
"I get a spoon?! Like the ones I see you guys use?"
"Wait a minute. This isn't the good stuff I see you, Daddy & Evan eating. What is this crap?!"
"You call it rice cereal? Come on. Give me the good stuff!"
"Maybe it tastes better if I feed myself. I'll take it from here mom."
"If I keep starring at the spoon maybe you'll put something good on it."
Such a happy boy! Loves his jumpy!
Evan said: "Mom, I'll help you." Tyler "Um, I don't think so. Give me that spoon."
Playtime with friends. Evan & Sam were super heroes!
Found his toes!
"Hey mom!"
"Hi there. Have you met my tounge?"
"I love my tounge."
"See? I can wiggle it and try to touch my chin & nose with it. It's such a cool toy!"
My handsome baby is 6 months!
There's that tounge!
